Foundation and Objectives
Soon after the establishment of the Institute, a group of interested people gathered in Sydney to form a society whose expressed aim was to provide financial support for the infant Institute. So the Society of the Sydney Friends was formed in 1982 and its members took as their first aim the provision of premises in Athens. A short three years later they saw the purchase of a spacious apartment and, by the time of the Official Opening in 1988, the Hostel was comfortably furnished as well as being fully owned by the Institute.
